Methodology

Recommendations on Mykonos Shore Excursions are editorial judgements for cruise passengers, not a ranked booking catalogue. We weigh how an experience fits a real day ashore — whitewashed lanes, island roads, Delos boat schedules and Aegean weather included.

What we weigh

  • Cruise schedules. Whether the experience can realistically fit variable arrival patterns, New Port or tender operations, and all-aboard constraints.
  • Duration. Published length versus usable hours ashore, including boat check-in, transfers and return margin — not just the headline tour time.
  • Tender uncertainty. Extra buffer when passengers may tender or face variable harbour access before reaching town, a meeting point or a fixed departure.
  • Fixed versus flexible timing. Shared boat departures with fixed check-in are treated differently from walking tours or private formats that can absorb schedule variation.
  • Itinerary balance. Whether the day shows Mykonos Town, inland island life, archaeology, beaches or food in a coherent way rather than a crowded checklist.
  • Private versus shared format. Party size, pacing control and whether a shared departure is an acceptable trade-off for the experience.
  • Activity level. Pedestrian lanes, steps, uneven surfaces, boat boarding, swimming and archaeological walking as described by suppliers.
  • Heat and shade. Summer exposure in town lanes, on Delos and at beach stops — and whether the itinerary leaves room for water, rest or earlier timing.
  • Mobility. Access limitations, wheelchair notes and whether tender boarding, town steps or Delos terrain make an option unsuitable.
  • Weather dependence. Wind and sea-state risk for boat itineraries, including the possibility of alternative routing or cancellation under supplier terms.
  • First-time and repeat fit. Whether the day suits a first overview of Chora and the island, or a quieter, food-led or archaeology-led return visit.
  • Food and inclusions. Whether meals, snacks or tastings are included, and how that affects a short town walk versus a longer sailing or cooking class.
  • Supplier information. Product pages, inclusions, meeting points and restrictions as published — without inventing unverified times, fares or availability on customer pages.
  • Feedback where available. Customer and operational feedback when we have it, used cautiously and never presented as fake star ratings.
  • Return practicality. A realistic path back to the ship, tender landing or New Port area with margin for congestion, heat and harbour conditions.

Editor's Choice

Editor’s Choice marks the option we judge strongest for broad cruise-day suitability on a typical first visit — currently Exclusive Mykonos Old and New. It is selected for itinerary balance and schedule fit, not simply commission level or supplier listing order.

Affiliate transparency

Some excursions are booked through affiliate partners. We may earn a commission if you book via links on this site. Where factually accurate, that commercial relationship should not increase the price you pay. It does not turn every listed product into a recommendation, and alternatives are still compared editorially.

  • Shore Excursions Group (SEG). Principal affiliate partner for the Mykonos shore excursions featured on this site. Commission terms are a business arrangement; we do not require publishing commission percentages on customer-facing pages.

What we do not invent

  • Exact berth assignment, shuttle prices, taxi fares or walking minutes
  • Fake ratings, review counts or live availability
  • Guaranteed Delos routing, museum access or guide inclusion on every product
  • Universal dock-versus-tender claims for every Mykonos call
  • Claims that every beach facility is included in the tour price
